I've been using a very old but perfectly fine Wacom Graphire 3, fraid I don't know much about the newer models. I have found drawing and painting on a tablet to be quite difficult, I honestly think it would be better to take time to study on pencil and paper. A graphics tablet won't do you much good unless you know the basics (as I have found out!)
I have a bamboo pen and it's really great. Only for 40$? Or was it 60$... But yeah. You also need a program to draw on but the whole Bamboo Pen package comes with a program too.

I have a friend who's pretty good at drawing and he has the bamboo pen and I've heard nothing but good things from him about it.
The one in your picture is the one I'd get if I were getting a tablet.
I have a Wacom intuos 3, but that's a bit on the pricey side. The small bamboo ones do work quite well though.
Tablet? All I know is mouse + mspaint sorry.

I also have a Bamboo, cheap and easy. I'm clumsy with it but that's only because I don't practice enough.
No point in getting an expensive one if you're just starting out.
I started on my friend's father's cast-off Graphire 4... 4x6 pad. Hoo boy, was it an experience learning on THAT thing.
I've heard a lot of good things about the Bamboo.
I myself have a Intuos 4 medium size and love it to little bits. It cost me almost a month's rent, but what the hell, right?
