Getting lower and lower.

So with the US dollar getting a conversion of about $1 to 80 yen, I believe I'm going to stop ordering figures for a while untill(if ever) the currency rate recovers. So I've decided to invest in a custom pc. It'll be around the $700-$800 range. I have one question though, how hot do these things get? I really don't want to melt all my little girl figures. Any help would would be great(& any info you can give a person building their first rig)

in return have an album.

Sucks about the dollar, what what can you do?

As for the computer generating that much heat, I doubt it'll be a problem. Maybe a five to ten degree ambient change around the computer itself at absolute worst. Just get a fairly large case and buy a few good fans for it, and I doubt you'll have any problems at all. I don't think I know enough to say anymore, an ATI/AMD build will probably get you more for the money in that price range though.

Unless you're putting your little girls in your case for decoration (I've seen some cases with figures in them, I dunno how they can do that and not worry about them being damaged), you should be fine.

The dollar is getting buttowned. Bad news for buying figures. ;_;

The heat will depend largely on the video card that you choose. If you're going for around $700~$800, then I can only suggest ATI. ATI cards are typically not as hot or power hungry as their NVIDIA equivalents, so you won't have to worry too much. Even so, the outside of the case doesn't get very hot at all; a little warm at the most. The ambient temperature may go up, but that's the most you will see.

Such as the Gaijins fall to the mighty Japanese Yen. When Ken-Sama moves to glorious Nippon I shall be acquiring Japanese Yen and be saving every yen because it represents the pride and strength of the Nihongo people. My apologies go out to those who purchase the Japanese figures as it seems it will hit them very hard and Ken-Sama wishes to comfort them at their time of need. Just order a glorious Japanese computer, it does everything Ken-Sama wants it to do and even more.

Yeah, rates suck right now :(

As others said, you shouldn't have a problem with the heat at all.

I'll have to take opportunity of this and import some CDs from USA, though.

Good luck with the custom PC, by the way.

The dollar is depreciating that much? That sucks.

I think I might hold off on buying figures as well, with exchange rates going down the shitter and the fact that my plans to move out are slowly getting off the ground (emphasis on slowly) I'm not going to have a lot of money to spend on my plastic crack fix.

Shit sucks ;_;

Your computer won't get hot enough to melt anything, but you can make it artificially hot running benchmarks. I've done that to defrost bread before.
